The Club

a brief retrospective

Merely one year and a half after their creation, the « Escher Majoretten » have managed to win the European twirling championship in Germany in 1995 in the « quattro-junior » category while reaching the excellent fourth place in the « standard-modern » category.

Since the beginning, the « Escher Majoretten » have had about 50 public performances per year, all crowned with a great success. The Drum and Mallet Band of the club know how to create an enchanting atmosphere with their catch rythms. The « Majoretten-Street-Programm » combined with samba rythms have entertained young and old everywhere.

Class, charm, rhythm and elegance are the trademark of this dynamic team, whose white and blue uniforms were created by Charlotte Bimmermann, French Haute Couture.

Besides the sporting and cultural activities, the governing board insists on the educational and social values which are to be transmitted. In this spirit, the club participates in memorial ceremonies, do educational visits, distribute roses on Mother’s Day, pralines on Father’s Day, Easter eggs and flowers for Valentines. The club also participates in charities (ex. Télévie).

American style, French elegance, extravagant choreographies, perfect performances, competent managing and training staff are the advantages of this admirable team which was selected in 1998 by Walt Disney World Orlando to take part in the great parade “Disney’s Magical Moments” at the Magic Kingdom in Florida (USA).

Again brilliant success in the 1999 European Championship with a second title in the category “Show-Team with Music Band”.

New milestones in 2000 with a tour of the whole team in the Caribbean, in 2001 association with the Cittanova majorettes and in 2002 a crowning moment with a performance on the Great Wall of China.

With their participation in the 2003 twirling world championship in Marseille (France), the « Escher Majoretten » have bravely mastered a great challenge.

In 2004 the « Escher Majoretten » celebrated their 10th anniversary and created a unique ensemble in Luxembourg, the Mallet Band.

In 2005, the Show Team, Drum-Band and Mallet-Band made a great cruise in the Mediterranean from Venetia to Istanbul. They also participated that year in the flower parade in Harlem (NL) and the European majorettes championship in Pordenone (Italy).

In 2006, the « Escher Majoretten » performed at the Champs Elysées, the Champ de Mars and near the Eifel Tower in Paris for the centenary of the French brass band union.

In 2007, performances were held at the International Tattoo in Brussels and Gent, at the European festival of Lens (France), at the Headquarters of Hermès in Paris. The « Escher Majoretten » also toured in south Africa and Swaziland.

After 13 years of duty, Jeannot Clement has been named honorary chairman for life and in July 2008, Monique Jacoby took over his task as chairman of the « Escher Majoretten ».

The City of Esch-sur-Alzette can be proud of its European champion which is certainly the most charming ambassador of the City in the Grand-Duchy as well as internationally.
